So I made it home from Vacation even through the east coast Mess this weekend. Didn't think I'd get home right up until the time we landed at the airport just a half hour late.
The whole plane was prepared to not take off from Las Vegas, to be diverted somewhere along the way, to be turned away because of the wind. Spontaneous applause broke out as we taxied toward the terminal to disembark.
Vacation was *fabulous*! Death Valley was so overwhelmingly beautiful, I can't really articulate everything I experienced. The colors of the mountains were most intense around sunrise and sunset, but the subtle variations you could see all the time were stunning in their understated glory. The company was absolutely sublime. Ladies, I love you all! We laughed from the time we got together to the time we separated.
Of course, on one of our last days I got car sick, because let's face it I *am* a delicate flower, goddamnit ("I was a ballerina, delicate, and dainty!")! But the waitress who brought me sprite and crackers to settle my stomach (and didn't even charge me for it!), you are a great lady, and to my car mates, who only attack the ones they love, thank you for keeping me in saltines. So much love!

For those that know me in RL, I came out of Death Valley the same color I walked in, namely paper white (pale is dark compared to me). I used lots of sunscreen, and my hat never left my head. I did, however get windburned from frolicking on the sand dunes in the Devil's Cornfield during a bit of a sandstorm. I got sand in my crevasses and crannies that we will go no further into. We ate really well - the few restaurants we went to had surprisingly good food (and weren't expensive at all). We cooked out where we could, and brought breakfast foods with us so we could eat and go, and not take up our time in the park with finding breakfast.
I learned a whole bunch, and got some fabulous photographs. I was a full week away from cell phone and computer, and it was precisely the break I needed. But I am back! Did I miss anything?
