Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] dezzikitty and [livejournal.com profile] jiggery_pokery who got married this morning. Wish I coulda been there with [livejournal.com profile] wordplay, [livejournal.com profile] heidi8, and [livejournal.com profile] gwendolyngrace, among many many others.

I saw a good friend in a show last night. Many others from my home community theatre group were in attendance, and we partied a bit afterwards, which was lovely. And needed, since we are all a bit shell shocked and upset.

Tomorrow there is a wake, and on Monday a funeral for me to attend. Last week, quite suddenly and without warning, one of the my home community theatre members suddenly dropped dead of a heart attack. He had left a community dinner and was on his way to a meeting and was found in a parking lot next to his car. His wife is understandably devastated. They did so many things together. They never had children, but were still two of the most giving, friendly, *nurturing* people I know. He served as president for the Players for six years. He always gave 110%. And as Gwen said to me when I told her, "But he was just at strike on Sunday. We all just *saw* him, he was fine!" I know, we did, and he was. And the people who sat with him at the club meeting that night laughed and had a good time, and were completely shocked to learn just minutes after his leaving them he was dead.

My favorite memory of him was when we were putting on "La Cage au Folles," and as president, he went out on stage to welcome each audience and give a few announcements. He good naturedly, and in the spirit of the show, put on a red sequined gown, red high heels, a curly red wig, and a bit of makeup (blush, lipstick, a little eyeliner, some shadow) for his "bit" onstage. He did refuse to shave off his beard, but that just made it that much funnier. He was a good sport.

LS we will miss you. The world is a little bit less today.
