So I’m here in San Diego, at the hotel, and last night there iwas a Marine Corps Ball… and another one tonight, and another next week. Apparently, the Marine Corps is 227 years old, and all the various parts of the Corps are partying it up. I guess because there is a base not far away, lots of these events are happening here.

They look so shiny and newly minted, but our contact with the hotel told us that some of these really young guys are highly decorated from being in Iraq. Not one of them looks older than 20. But they are quite pretty, all spit and polish. Their young ladies (wives and girlfriends) look like they are going to prom, with the poofy gowns. I swear one of them was wearing the Hermione Yule Ball dress.

Mmmm... I'm going to hell for the impure thoughts all these young men in uniform are inspiring in me.

I've tried four times to reply to you, but that pesky thing called work keeps interfereing... I am currently working from 6:30 am to 10pm (long long LONG days)...

The hotel is beautiful, the views are spectacular. The meeting's social event was held at the Birch Aquarium, which was very nice. Although, they plied me with drinks there and then dragged me to the hotel bar when we got back. But then, I could sleep in a whole hour this mporning (getting up at 6:30 instead of 5:30 - such luxury!), so it's all good.

I have to say I am enjoying the beautiful weather here. Although I can see the day in day out sunny weather would drive me crazy in a week or so. But it is nice while I am here!

I've said this before, but this would be a good hotel for an HPEF event (Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina). It would fit us as a crowd very well. Even if we grew to 1800-2000. The first time we held this meeting here was five years ago, and we had an attendance of 2800 - that got a bit cramped.
