Yesterday I spent the day with the dancers at the performing arts school I do the lighting for. It was their spring ballet - this year the ballet was "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

The girl who was Titania is the same girl who was Peter Pan six weeks ago at their spring recital. And she was the Nutcracker Prince in the Nutcracker in December. And I found out at dinner with the other back stage folk they weren't sure she'd ever dance again after she broke three bones in her ankle last summer. She was wearing a walking cast for Nutcracker - dancing well at Peter Pan and on pointe yesterday at Midsummer. So she is doing amazingly well. She is also one of the girls whose Dad is one of the major helpers who build the sets and put up the side lights. He's pretty cool - and will be with us long after T's gone off to college - because T has a little sister who is also a dancer.

The young woman who was Puck has grown a HUGE amount since a couple of years ago when she played the Queen in Cinderella. She is way more confident on stage - and she also filled in at rehearsal when a few of the principal dancers were caught up at their confirmation that ran an hour late.

Anyway - the dance was well done - and we struck the whole thing and were sitting down to dinner at about 6:30pm.

Today I has the yearly exam of my furnace by my oil company. They give you a timeframe instead of an appointment time - and my timeframe was 12pm-3pm. The engineer arrived at 12:40 and left by 2pm. He told me my furnace is working really well - which made me happy, since a lot of the rest of the house needs work.

And in other news I think I have a banner design in mind for Ascendio. Next step - sketches!
