So one of my best High School friends had a mini breakdown yesterday as her oldest son - a high school junior (senior? He's seventeen) flew off to Germany on a school-sponsored month-long exchange. And I've realized, that I could be Mom to an almost-adult. Now, I recognize that she started pretty early having her kids - and there is a good almost fifteen year age gap between her oldest and her youngest - with a couple in between - but still.
I can't even imagine being "mom" full time to a *pet* let alone a kid. But she assured us all that he, his classmates, and all their luggage arrived as expected in Berlin this morning. And she is mourning her "baby boy" flying away from her.
On a completely unrelated note: Has anyone else ever noticed that when people say "innovative" sometimes all they really mean is "odd"? Yeah. Me too.
