So on Sunday I spent several hours at the Clever Hand Gallery helping my mom and D put up the ornaments for the end-of-the-year-holidays-of-choice. They have some really nice ones this year. D - she is a leatherworker - brought in both mittens and her miniature stuffed christmas stockings - adorable! This year's cardinal design that my mom figured out is nice, as is the 2008 Angel design. New this year - butterflies - with (lots of) glitter.

A, who usually does painted silk, has a design of painted christmas balls - which are kinda nice, but the ones they had to put out were left over from last year - and as such had the after christmas sale prices on them. So I spent some time repricing them. And figuring out if $15 or $14.95 or $16 should be the appropriate price for her work. Mom told me just to do it. She will never notice. Besides, if she wants to reprice them she is welcome to do so.

One of the beaders has a terrific design for beaded snowflakes which incorporate Swarovski crystals - which catch the light so beautifully.

The lady who does the pained gourds has mini ones that are very effective ornaments. And I also liked some of the ones out of clay. The fibre ones are merely odd - they are like little nests of felted fibres in swirly colors.

But all the ornaments that had come in went up, and the display will be fuller as more members bring in their work. Hanukkah is late this year, so the menorahs went out with the other christmas items - place mats, stockings, potholders, spice mats, etc.

After that it was lunch and chat - I heard about L (he's loud and turning over), B (very much almost-five), and G (who was at a birthday party at the new American Girl store). We discussed life, the universe, and everything - as well as the election and the sad state of California (so sorry California, that 52% of you are follow-along fucktards).

My dad breezed in from golfing around three-ish - we'd moved from the table to the couch. I got home around 6:30. But then I'm not going to see them again until likely Thanksgiving as I leave on Thursday for Minneapolis and am not back until the twenty second.
