"dieing" is the correct word when talking about molding, stamping, cutting or shaping with a die (the stationary part of the machine that shapes and/or cuts holes in materials like sheet metal).
Not to be confused with:
"dying" is the act of leaving life behind. Die down - such as a fire slowly extinguishing or resist to the last, die off - die one by one until they are all gone, die out - becoming extinct, go out of existence. The fire was dying out. The bald eagle was dying off until conservation efforts brought them back.
Also not to be confused with:
"dyeing" is the process of coloring something with dye (tie dyeing a t-shirt, dyeing your hair, dyeing fabric)
So your great great grandmother may have dyed her own clothes the day before dying peacefully in her sleep.
But please don't have her dieing or dyeing in her sleep. That makes no sense.
