I spent the day with my parents. And my brother came with his kids after lunch for a while. B spent the entire visit asleep in the car (she is three), and G spent the afternoon running me and my mother ragged. My brother and dad spent time in the front yard keeping an eye on B in her car seat, completely zonked out.

G and I explored the yard, and then went inside to play with Daisy and Dora (the two rubber dragons that are G's most favorite toy at grandma and grandpa's currently).

We (G and I) decided we, like dragons, like shiny things. We, like dragons, like treasure. We, like dragons, would love to have wings so we can fly. We decided that dragons *might* or *might not* breathe fire. And we played champion games of hide-and-go-seek. G is five. She told me today she loves her swimming lessons, but is still lukewarm on Ballet, which she has been taking for two years. B will begin pre-ballet in a couple of months, and just personality-wise, I think B will like ballet more than G. I think G should be in jazz or tap - it is more her speed - which is to say fast and active. I can see how ballet would frustrate her in it's precision and structure. Exactly what would make it fun and exciting for B.

Little kids are the best. I don't know if G. liked my haircut though. She was really shy for the first few minutes just looking at me out of the corners of her eyes, and from under her lashes. Well, lose fourteen inches of hair and that happens! She got used to it pretty easily, though. And since it is so curly when short she liked to pat the back of my head.

The only hard thing about the day was the absence of my parent's dog. I kept expecting to find her stretched out on carpet in a big blonde pool of loose limbs and thumping tail, only to remember that she's passed on, now.

Back to work tomorrow - and I am dreading it. I need a new job.
