Where is the emergency?

Yesterday as I left work I was driving on a main route (but not a highway - just a main road) and on one stretch of road a police car passed me (going in the opposite direction) with siren blaring and red and blue lights flashing. Then another police car, also suitably "EMERGENCY GET OUT OF MY WAY" clad in lights and noise. Then one of those pick-ups that firehouses use, also flashing (red and white lights this time). Then an ambulance screams by. And a fire ladder truck. And then yet another blue-and-red police vehicle.

It was almost comical that they each approached *just* after the last one went around a curve in the road, or down a little hill. I don't know what the emergency was, but it was sure well attended.
