No Tai Chi guy this morning. I kinda missed him as I bopped by.

I did not go on the social event thing last night. I went and ate at the bar in my hotel, had a drink with some co-workers and went to bed - BEFORE midnight! Huzzah! I got more than five hours sleep... But I am still dragging my ass today. I got here at 7:05am - late late late! But MB was even a little later than me, so I don't feel so bad.

Computer engineers. Is there a group of people more fun to people-watch than the top-notch geeks of the world? I've seen some particularly interesting people here. I've got the guy who has the "pregnant woman waddle" the woman with the shambeling walk. There is the young man with cascading hair down to his butt (actually there are more than a few of these, some of the hair you just want to run your fingers through, and some you don't want to touch.). The one I am thinking of has ginger-colored hair, and he wears it loose. Very pretty!

Then there is the sub-set with no social graces what-so-ever. I've got a quasi-stalkerish type guy who just keeps coming by the reg desk and nodding and smiling. I don't know whether he can speak or not. Let alone if he speaks english.

I've seen people who walk leading with the pelvis, the nose, the head, the chest, the feet, the shoulders. One very distinctive individual used to be a he, is now a she, and still has a very attractive mane of white hair.

Then there are the masses of people (85% male in this crowd!) who just don't stand out at all. Wearing jeans, a black tee-shirt, and clutching their laptop. Woe to the ones that lose a power brick, an adaptor, their secure ID token. The message board has pleas for help, bulletins about lost items, meet-up plans.

My days are filled with distributing and collecting data projectors, distributing attendance sheets, answering questions. Sadly, there is a team dinner tonight, so likely I will miss the fireworks, and won't get to bed early tonight.

Ah well. Hopefully, all will be right with the world tomorrow and Tai Chi guy will be back.

ETA: The Scifi channel in French? Very funny! SG1 sounds entirely too stiff and formal. But there was something on this morning that had a song and dance number to "Shatanooga Choo Choo" in French, and I am sorry, but that song shouldn't be sung in anything *but* French from now on. "choo choo" just sounds good with the French language.

Now you know.
