I can't believe it has been over a month since my last post! Life has gotten hectic - and will stay hectic until after the Wizard of Oz is over. We've replaced two of the three directors since auditions. But now we are on an even keel once again (knock wood, and many offering burned to the gods and goddesses that it stays that way!)
Only another seven weeks 'til we open. Argh. I am hoping my parents will bring G (B is still too little) to the final performance (I'll be back from Dallas and able to take them on a backstage tour).
[oooohhh, looking like a rant here, so begin rant!]
On other news the closing went well last month, so I have officially changed companies, if not jobs. The biggest pain in the mikta right now is that I am now being paid every other week instead of once a month. All my bills are due in the first ten days of the month (since I am used to having a monthly paycheck every fifth of the month). Now I have to do some interesting contortions as I figure out what the schedule is going to be. Thank god for grace periods! My mortgage is technically due on the first of the month, but they give you fifteen days grace period (ditto for the car, but I am usually early with that one), knowing everyone's pay schedule is different. As it is I will probably be taking the check in to the bank a few times to make the deadline until the pay schedule calms down, and I am far enough ahead to pay it on time.
And they are meeting-me to death! And I'm not the one who is forced to go to the most meetings! My boss is always on the phone in teleconferences. Our poor development guy has six or seven a week! He can't get any work done and is falling farther behind. Corporate America at work!
Currently trying to bring the new laptop up to speed - loading everything I require from the old (beloved) baby to the new (cursed) microsoft loaded junker. They are making us use Outlook! Damn it I *hate* Outlook! It sucks big fat slimy rocks. I suppose the machine itself is okay. It's a ThinkPad, brand new. But I have so many passwords I have to put in a user ID and password to sneeze. And they are ALL DIFFERENT USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS! I have a password to lock the computer, and unlock the computer. To get mail, to get to HR, to get to the timesheets, to use the Intranet, to use the VPN. I was issued a RSA SecurID that I need to use the VPN- so I have the userid, password and SecurID to enter before I can logon and get my mail.
How useful is it to have so many security things that you have to carry around a small book of current passwords, since they make you change them every sixty days? I mean, I lose that book and I can't get into my computer to request a password reset!
My new computer has so many chastity belts on it's not funny. And anything you do these little warnings about only using it for business purposes, big brother is watching you, etc. gets a little old after a while.
Anyway. [/rant]
I have a fun thing tonight and then a weekend relatively free. I'll be doing the yellow brick road this weekend if I am lucky....
