Yeah. [livejournal.com profile] gwendolyngrace and I searched out the nearest IKEA store (about a hundred miles from home, not bad!) and took a little road trip to visit it on Saturday. Never been to one before. What a trip that was! It was quite literally overwhelming. We had to search out a dim corner with chairs and sit and ignore the masses of people for a few moments halfway through to bring it down to whelming.

Impressions:
If I had kids I'd get the castle bedsheets and curtains and the pop-up play tent (with detachable tunnel) in the same kind of print for them. So cool!

Some of the wall mounted storage units are cool.

Too many people.

Love the choose-a-desk-top-choose-legs-to-go-with desks. They were out of stock with the legs, though (No legs to stand on; sad!).

I also liked the six compartment hanging toy storage webby-thing. Too bad they were all out of the white ones, and don't make them in pink (your choices last weekend were black, green, orange, or blue). I'd have gotten one for G and one for B if they weren't/did.

The bathroom stuff was pretty nice. I liked the sink/cabinet combo in a couple of the different styles.

Seeing all the books on the shelves in the showrooms be in swedish was good for a giggle.

Where the hell did all these people come from?

And the armoir/closets were *very* spiffy.

We also liked the wall mounted alumninum wine rack. Wine as wall sculpture. Fun.

Just saying the names of some of the designs was entertainment good for hours of enjoyment.

Modular. And modular. And more modular furniture. If my sewing room was anything but a dream at this point I saw a lot of things I could use.

Too damn many people.

We came home with shelves for the wall. Floating shelves in Lack black. Lack being the style, black being the color. But saying them together is so much more fun. Lack black. Lack black. Like that. Try it, you'll like it.

Happiness is new shelving.
