You're right, there aren't terribly many surprises in this one, so it will all stand or fall with the next book. I was struck by the fact that the supportive cast were so... well, they weren't really *there*. I think it's a bit of what you mentioned about Bill being a looming presence, but that was it. I guess it might be me having too high expectations seeing I've been looking forward to the book since I read Order of the Phoenix.
I miss Fred and George too and no, I'm not all that sure Dumbledore won't pop up again.
