So I get home last night and there are orange cones everywhere, the corner of the lawn is dug up and excavated, and there is a big area of the driveway/street that has a new pavement patch. I think WTF, because the guy who came out to look said they wouldn't need to touch the driveway to replace the pipes.

Turns out that the break was so bad, when the garbage truck came through yesterday morning it created an impassable sinkhole in the street and collapsed that corner of the driveway! What a MESS!

I also had a note to call the public works to get the water turned back on. I thought, (again) WTF? Shouldn't they have turned it back on when they left? Turns out, that it was so muddy they needed to flush the system before I turned on any faucets, to get the dirt out of the pipes before it had a chance to clog them.

And when the water finally got turned back on (around 9:15pm) the guy told me that there were four water pipe breaks yesterday and the crew was still out working on them, which is why I got him - the overtime guy from the day before. He was nice about it and apologised that it took so long to come back. He was also impressed with how good the pavement patch looked, because he told me it was a mess earlier in the day.

I am glad I stayed with my parents Sunday night! And I finally finished the load of laundry this morning that I put in the washer on Sunday afternoon - I wanted to make sure there was no dirt in the wash water from Sunday so I rewashed it.
