Argh! The frustrations of day to day living...

Days like today=the reason I maintain a Triple A membership. Do I use it every year? No. But the times I need it is it totally worth the $50 a year? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Both my car and I are completely fine. I'm just a dumbass. Also a moron. And several types of idiot. It has been A Day.

On the plus side I cashed in $62 worth of pennies. My grandfather in the years before he died collected pennies in jars and bags. I don't really know why, unless he thought they weighed him down. Or were an annoyance. My mom has been keeping those bags and jars since his death. I offered to go cash them in for her since my bank has a handy coin machine that I can use free as a bank customer (they otherwise "charge" a 6% fee). $62. I have another $20 or so to go in, but one can only carry so much weight in pennies before tipping over. Maybe after I give her the cash that came out of the penny jars she'll let me take the three hundred or so in other coins stacked on the top of their dresser. My dad doesn't use coins at all. He'd rather break a one dollar bill. So all of his coins end up in their bedroom. I made a rough count about three years ago and it was over three hundred dollars. Bet its higher now...

Okay, if you must know... (the tow truck driver totally used his phone and took a picture for the "dumb things people do with their cars" wall of shame).

We have a few inches of snow on the ground. And the snowbanks around my driveway are about two or three feet high - of compacted snow, ice, and sand. I pulled up past my driveway to back in (first mistake) and didn't really pay as much attention as I should exactly where that snow bank was in relation to the back of my car (second mistake), in the process of backing into my driveway I drove up and over the bank (third mistake) and got hung up there just in front of my back tire.

Hanging mostly in partial mid-air, spinning my wheels, half in and half out of the driveway. I put on my hazard lights and called triple A. And the very nice tow truck driver laughed with me for a few minutes before getting down to the business of getting my car unstuck.

The whole thing only took about half an hour from getting stuck to getting unstuck. But I was this afternoon's entertainment in the neighborhood.

And I feel rather silly about the whole thing. So yeah, Triple A - when you need it it totally pays for itself. I don't even want to contemplate if I didn't have it and had to call someone to unstick my car from a snowbank.
