So I had my yearly physical last month and I got the test results back from the labs - I am completely fine. I am operating within normal parameters, and my blood pressure has gone from slightly high a year ago to really good.
Yes, they gave me a flu shot because my doctor is pretty conservative that way (and I don't generally react to them in any adverse way). No, the H1N1 shot wasn't available, but they didn't ask me to make another appointment to come and get it when it is, so I am not worried about it.
They also took a height measurement, as I hadn't had one since I was sixteen, and I am NOT 5'2" as it says on my driver's license. I am just over 5'4" tall (she wrote down 5'5" as I was just nearly kissing that line, but I was also still in my shoes - so I figure 3/4" for the shoes. Call it 5'4").
My flist is all over with people who are sick, people who can't get in to see their doctors because they don't have fevers or other symptoms that put them up the priority list. Something that shocked me when I went for my annual physical was there was hardly anyone *at* the doctor's office. Sure, I went pretty early in the day, mid-week, but I didn't choose the earliest appointment - it was the earliest I could get at just before 10am. But I did get there about fifteen minutes early and they took me right away - I didn't even have the time to fill out the yearly exam questionnaire about vices and habits. And they succeeded at getting blood from me without resorting to sending me and my veins-that-like-to-hide-from-needles across the hall to the lab tech. In and out in under an hour. All around, I count the visit as a win.
